Wathumba/ Fraser Island/ Hervey Bay
Sorry for the late report fellas, this was covered in the February newsletter as well but here is my recollection in point form or rather my lazy style of submitting reports.
Friday 18th Myself ,Sqizz and Snow brave 20-25 kn SE winds , with a northerly swell and were mainly restricted to Moon Point . Best capture for the day my stingray yay ! Friday afternoon , the three that were there are left with no option but to start drinking and have casting competitions on the grass with Snows rod , what a pig of a rod ! Friday night some other members start to show up, after catching up with Nat Bromhead , the lycra clad flyfishing guide , we all decide to have tea at the yacht club. Dazz , Kim Strathearn , Ian Brocherie , Squiz , Snow, Alfie kitcher,Nat and myself have a messy time at dinner Saturday morning , early start . We are greeted by reasonable conditions and the run to Station hill is smooth until north of Wathumba where the SE starts to hit. Second or third cast of the day Kim and myself had a shot at a juvenile Black Marlin in less that six feet of water .

Things are pretty slow with little visibility , I got a nice estuary cod of the coffee rock .The Squid were exceptionally thick , Alfie and Ian put the hard yards in with the squid jig for dinner. Â We decided to have a look around Kim and IÂ catch up with Nat and Dazz , as well as Snow and Squiz for a quick meeting as to where the Tuna are , so we head west from Rooneys point in an effort to save the day It wasn't long before we lost sight of everyone and Fraser island was becoming a blur . Tuna are now in sight

the Meter plus swell (and by meter I mean hight and distance apart) made for some desperado fishing conditions, we still managed a couple of Mac Tuna It was very rough so we headed back to Wathumba, where we met Dazz, Nat, Alf and Ian . Talk about variety .One minute the schools were spotties , then Mac Tuna then the occasional Longtail , then Madfish, frigates and to my surprise juvenile King fish.  time for camp setup and a shower

The Fish of the trip I have never been on a club trip here and not had unbelievable fishing so for 2009 I would be expecting no different !! What a great annual trip, with a great bunch of blokes
