Toga School

A recent trip to Borumba has been held by the club as part of its species school . with the recent cool weather it ahs been a challenging time to hunt saratoga , those who have braved the conditions found the fishing challenging . In my opinion it was a very good time to be learning about these fish as anyone can catch them in optimum conditions , it takes skill and knowlege to be in the right place at the right time with the right fly at this time of year.

Success came by walking the bank , the water level at Borumba is extremly low at he present , lending itself to sight casting more than when the water is high . Fly selection is simple , a black fly with plenty of movement as a slow presentation is what you are after with these lethargic fish. Check out the "V" mans destroyer in the fly pattern section of this site , as I found this to be my most successful fly . Other patterns that were effective , were Petes Bucket , Mudler Minnows and Wooly Buggers.

I hope you like the photos of the more recent trip
