To all Members:

The August meeting was our intended to be our AGM. In the August newsletter it was suggested that we try and get a good turn up to discuss the future direction of the club. Unfortunately the turn up was only 5 people. This was extremely disappointing. The immediate past/ current committee can not continue to operate the club in its present form. The required effort to keep the club functioning is draining and time consuming, this is currently undertaken by a select few. In light of this a decision has been made to suspend regular club activities effective immediately. The club will continue to undertake constitution requirements, pay insurance, and remain registered for the next year as a minimum. Members are welcome to comment, to finalise we propose a meeting at the Coast Guard on October 1st. As previously stated we do not foresee any formal club activities to be undertaken prior to a change in circumstances. Generally throughout the year there are some common events where we may be able to catch up and chase fish. These will not be club organized events but more dates where the madness that is life stops and we get away and fish together with like minded souls

These events generally are:

  • Camping Wathumba Creek Australia Day Long weekend
  • Mathew Quinn Comp Hervey Bay February 5,6&7
  • Moreton Bay Longtail Challenge Bribie Is May
  • Inskip Challenge June
  • Variety Club Toga Comp October 10th & 11th
  • Hervey Bay Trevally December (1st w/end in Dec)

It is hoped that members will take on the Longtail Tuna Chase if only as a weekend meet and greet. Comments on this are welcome.

External parties are considering taking over the Bass on Fly comp as we have not been able to get people involved to help organize it. If anyone has concerns, please say so. We are inclined to have no further involvement. Efforts to continue to keep the web site updated will be undertaken. The monthly meetings, newsletters and monthly fishes will no longer be held on a regular formal basis.

An AGM will be required in accordance with the Regulations. The revised meeting date is the 1st of October and this forms notification of this meeting. The opportunity is welcomed for anyone who is interested at any point in the future to run the club to step forward.
